COVID-19 AND NDIS
Frequently Asked Questions:
What is Coronavirus?
Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a respiratory illness with symptoms ranging from a mild cough to pneumonia. Some people recover quickly and easily, and others may get very sick, very quickly. Good hygiene can prevent infection for most people.
What can I do if I am concerned about exposure to coronavirus?
We acknowledge that people with a disability may need to be in close contact with their support workers, we encourage unnecessary touching wherever possible.
Support workers do not need to wear face masks. Surgical masks in the community are only helpful in preventing people who have coronavirus from spreading it to others.
To help reduce the spread of the virus, we are reducing face-to-face meetings. We are available over the phone by calling 1300 866 013 or emailing us at email@example.com
Will coronavirus have an affect on my plan?
To ensure NDIS plans don't reach their end date, on the day your plan is due to expire it will be automatically extended by 12 months. When you plan is due to expire, you will not need to do anything. Your planning review meeting will be held over the phone. You will not see a reduction in funds if you cannot use your funds because of COVID-19.
Is there an increase in charges for services?
Some payments are increasing by 10% and service providers will be getting some money upfront. This will help them to keep paying their staff during the pandemic. Providers will also now receive the full amount for a short-notice cancellation, which will help providers if people get sick. Providers will advise you with this information.
